Ivanhoe Announces For The First Time The Resources Of Makuku And Other Copper Mines

Ivanhoe Mines has announced its first resources for the Makoko and Kiala deposits at its Western Foreland exploration project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to the cut-off grade of 1.5%, the inferred ore resources of the Makuku copper deposit are 16 million tons and the copper grade is 3.55%; the inferred ore resources are 154 million tons and the copper grade is 1.97%.

According to the same cut-off grade, the Chiara copper deposit has an inferred ore resource of 5 million tons and a copper grade of 3.56%.

Ivanhoe said Makuku ranks as the world’s third largest high-grade copper mine since the discovery of the Kakula copper mine in 2016.

In the West Forland mineralization province, Ivanhoe has obtained proven and inferred copper resources of 38.7 million tons and inferred resources of 9.4 million tons, including Kamoa and Kakula.
