Applications and Types of Copper Strips
Copper strip (or coil) is a very useful form of metal. There are four main types of copper strip: pure copper strip, brass strip, bronze strip and nickel-silver strip, plus specialized electronic strips (lead-frame and Cu-Ni-Si).
1. Pure Copper Strip (≥99.90% Cu)
Excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, excellent hot and cold working properties, weldable and brazable, good corrosion resistance. Used in automobile radiator tubes, radiators, electronic parts, semiconductors, automotive and electrical appliances.
2. Brass Strip (Cu-Zn)
Uniform color, excellent processing performance, deep-drawing ability, easy plating and painting, corrosion resistance and good welding. Used in electronic components, switch sockets, architectural etching, fasteners, nameplates, labels, condensers and heat exchangers, hardware products, dials and lipstick boxes.
3. Tin-Phosphor Bronze Strip (Cu-Sn-P)
Excellent cold workability, plating, hot-dip plating and welding performance, high strength, good elasticity, resistance to seawater and process-atmosphere corrosion. Used in computer CPU sockets, automobile terminals, cell-phone buttons and electronic connectors.
4. Nickel-Silver Strip (Cu-Zn-Ni)
Good cold working, plating and hot-dip plating performance, high strength, high elasticity, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance and shielding. Used in structural parts, elastic components, precision instruments, the communications industry and oscillator component shells.
5. Lead-Frame Strip (KFC)
High conductivity and strength, good hot/cold workability and welding performance. Used in discrete components, IC lead-frame materials, LED lighting, relays, terminal connectors and BGA substrate heat-dissipation materials.
6. Copper-Nickel-Silicon Strip
Good cold working, electroplating and hot-dip tinning performance, suitable for tin welding and gas-shielded welding; high yield strength, excellent fatigue resistance and bending properties. Used in large integrated circuits - stampings, connectors, relay springs and semiconductor components.
