Characteristics and processing methods of copper tubes

Commonly used copper pipes can be divided into the following types:

Copper condenser tubes, crystallizer copper tubes, air conditioning copper tubes, various extruded, drawn (reverse extruded) copper tubes, iron-nickel copper tubes, brass tubes, bronze tubes, cupronickel tubes, beryllium copper tubes, tungsten copper Pipes, phosphor bronze pipes, aluminum bronze pipes, tin bronze pipes, imported red copper pipes, etc.

Among them, copper tubes are widely used. Every year, 50% of copper is electrolytically purified into pure copper and used in the electrical industry. The red copper mentioned here must be very pure, containing more than 99.95% copper. A small amount of impurities, especially phosphorus, arsenic, aluminum, etc., will greatly reduce the conductivity of copper.

The oxygen contained in copper (a small amount of oxygen is easily mixed during copper smelting) has a great influence on the conductivity. Copper used in the electrical industry must generally be oxygen-free copper. In addition, impurities such as lead, antimony, and bismuth will prevent the copper crystals from being combined together, causing thermal brittleness and affecting the processing of pure copper. Red copper is a relatively pure type of copper with good electrical conductivity and plasticity, but poor strength and hardness.

The connection of the copper tube is very strong, making it more practical. Because there are various pipe materials on the market, the interface fittings are mainly copper pipes. Even if some pipe parts do not need copper fittings, they still need to have a copper fitting at the interface with the faucet.

However, if copper pipe fittings are connected to other pipes, due to the different materials of the pipes and fittings, the physical and mechanical properties of the thermal expansion and contraction are very different, so the firmness of the connection will naturally face additional challenges. Therefore, the firmness of the connection between copper pipes and copper accessories will be greatly enhanced.

Brass tubes are lightweight, have good thermal conductivity, and have high low-temperature strength. Often used in the manufacture of heat exchange equipment (such as condensers, etc.). It is also used to assemble low-temperature pipelines in oxygen production equipment. Small-diameter copper pipes are often used to transport pressured liquids (such as lubrication systems, oil pressure systems, etc.) and pressure measuring tubes used as instruments.

Brass tubes are strong and corrosion-resistant. It mainly has the following advantages: Copper pipes are hard in texture, not prone to corrosion, are resistant to high temperatures and high pressures, and can be used in a variety of non-copper environments. Common brass tubes include electrical brass tubes, refrigeration brass tubes, high-pressure resistant brass tubes, corrosion-resistant brass tubes, connection brass tubes, water pipes, electric heating brass tubes and industrial brass tubes. Copper pipes, etc.

Copper pipes are strong and corrosion-resistant, making them a suitable choice for modern contractors to install water pipes, heating and cooling pipes in all residential commercial buildings.

Copper pipe combines many advantages: it has good performance and has the high strength of ordinary metals; at the same time, it is easier to bend, twist, crack, and break than ordinary metals, and has certain frost heaving and impact resistance, so it is very suitable for building construction. Once the copper water pipes in the water supply system are installed, they are safe and reliable to use, and even do not require maintenance and upkeep.

Copper pipes are often used in tap water pipes, heating and refrigeration pipes. As installation pipes, they have the advantages of hard texture, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and high pressure resistance, and can be used in different environments. Copper pipes combine the advantages of metal and non-metal pipes. They are widely used in hot and cold water systems and are a suitable tool for connecting pipes.

Although there are many processing methods for copper pipes, they can be summarized into two categories: hot processing and cold processing.

At present, the extrusion billet supply method is still the main method. The production process is to melt and cast electrolytic copper into solid round ingots, which are then put into the extruder one by one to be extruded into tube billets, and then cold rolled or multi-pass linearly stretched to a disc. Stretch the required tube blank.

Copper tube extrusion is divided into high extrusion ratio and low extrusion ratio, both of which have refined grain structure and good surface quality. The tube blanks extruded by high extrusion ratio have smaller specifications and thinner wall thickness, and can be processed directly on a continuous direct machine or a disc stretching machine.

Low extrusion ratio extrusion can use large ingots to extrude large-sized tube blanks, and then use a cold-rolled tube machine for elongation processing. For ingots with the same size and specification, a high extrusion ratio requires a larger extrusion tonnage, and the extruded pipe wall thickness tolerance is very large.

Since the three-roller pipe rolling machine can prevent the rolled copper pipe from rotating, it can be easily rolled into a coil online. It is characterized by a short production process and the elimination of reheating and extrusion processes. It has advantages in saving energy, reducing equipment investment, and reducing costs. The large and heavy tube billet creates favorable conditions for improving the drawing processing efficiency of the subsequent processes.
