What is H68 brass?

H68 brass wire (C2680 brass wire) is the most widely used variety among ordinary brasses. It conforms to the GB/T 14954-1994 standard, is in a half-hard state, and has a common specification range of 4.0–6.0 mm. The corresponding grades are H68 and C2680. Its chemical composition primarily consists of copper (63.5%–68.0%) and zinc, with trace amounts of lead, iron, and other elements. Its performance falls between that of H70 and H65. At room temperature, its tensile strength is ≥375 MPa, and its elongation is ≥13%. The hot working temperature range is 750–830°C, the annealing temperature is 520–650°C, and low-temperature annealing at 260–270°C is required to relieve internal stresses. It is suitable for cold and hot pressure processing and is mainly used in the manufacture of complex cold-stamped parts such as bellows.

Characteristics

Its performance is between H70 and H65; it is less expensive than H70 and also has relatively high strength and plasticity. It can withstand cold and hot pressure processing well but has a tendency for corrosion cracking. H68 brass possesses excellent plasticity and relatively high strength. It offers good machinability, is easy to weld, and is very stable against general corrosion, but it is prone to corrosion cracking. It is the most widely used variety of ordinary brass. The performance of H68 brass is very similar to that of H70, but it has a tendency for "season cracking" during cold working. It is used for complex cold-stamped and deep-drawn parts, such as bellows.

Brass product packaging

We implement a graded and customized packaging system: copper plates are double-wrapped with moisture-proof paper and vapor corrosion inhibitor film before being placed in reinforced wooden crates, which are filled with cushioning materials and equipped with impact-resistant corner protectors; copper tubes and rods are sealed with plastic end caps, wrapped with PE protective film, and then layered into steel-frame logistics containers, with EPE pearl cotton separating each layer; copper wires are automatically wound onto spools, vacuum-sealed, covered with waterproof film, and secured on customized iron-wood pallets; copper strips are wrapped with non-woven fabric, coiled onto high-strength steel cores, and placed into waterproof composite material coils with desiccants inside. All packaging passes ISTA-3A transport testing, and the outer boxes are labeled with international hazardous material identifiers, moisture warnings, and scannable logistics codes, ensuring the cargo withstands moisture, impact, and chemical erosion during global transportation.
