Copper materials H59 and H62 belong to the category of ordinary brass, which are two common grades of copper-zinc alloys. The selection should be based on a comprehensive judgment considering the actual application, cost budget, and performance requirements.
Chemical Composition:
H59 has a copper content of approximately 57%-60% and a zinc content of about 40%-43%. It is classified as low-copper, high-zinc brass.
H62 has a copper content of approximately 60.5%-63.5% and a zinc content of 36.5%-39.5%. It is classified as medium-copper-content brass.
H62 has a copper content 3%-5% higher than H59, and this difference directly affects the material properties.
Mechanical Properties:
From a mechanical performance perspective, H62 has a tensile strength exceeding 380 MPa and a Brinell hardness over 100 HB. This is a clear advantage compared to H59, which has a tensile strength of about 330 MPa and a hardness of 85 HB.
H62 has an elongation of about 45%, while H59 has about 35%, indicating that H62 is less prone to cracking during cold working.
If components need to withstand significant loads or frequent movement, such as in electrical connectors or instrument gears, H62 is more suitable.
Corrosion Resistance:
In terms of corrosion resistance, their performance is similar in dry environments. In humid and hot environments, H62 has stronger oxidation resistance due to its higher copper content.
Using H62 for hardware fittings in coastal outdoor applications can extend their service life. A comparative test by a marine fittings factory showed that in a salt spray environment, H62 remained intact for 60 hours longer than H59.

Processing Performance:
The difference in processing performance is significant. H59 has a wide hot-working temperature range (680-750°C) and is suitable for hot forging and hot extrusion processes.
A lock manufacturer producing padlock casings used H59 material for hot stamping forming, controlling the defect rate to within 3%.
H62 excels in cold working performance. A hardware factory, when mass-producing bolts, used the cold heading process with H62, increasing production efficiency by 15% compared to using H59.
Conductive and Thermal Properties:
Comparing conductive and thermal properties, H62 has an electrical conductivity of about 28% IACS, while H59 has about 26% IACS.
Although the difference is not large, in applications requiring conductivity, such as charging pile interface reeds, choosing H62 can reduce heat generation by 10%.
Test data from a new energy enterprise showed that the temperature rise of charging components made with H62 was 4°C lower than those made with H59.
Cost:
In terms of cost, based on current copper prices, the material cost of H62 is about 300 RMB per ton higher than H59.
A sanitary ware company producing 1 million sets of faucets annually saved about 800,000 RMB in raw material costs by using H59 instead of H62, but the repair rate increased by 0.8 percentage points. It is necessary to balance the relationship between cost and quality.
Specific Material Selection Recommendations:
For decorative items like door handles and crafts, prioritize H59.
For load-bearing structural components like spring plates and gears, choose H62.
For welded components, H62 is recommended because it has better fluidity in the liquid state.
When surface electroplating is required, the coating adhesion of H62 is 20% better than that of H59.
For applications in humid environments, H62 must be chosen. An automotive parts factory upgraded the material of wiper connectors from H59 to H62, resulting in a 65% decrease in failure rate during the warranty period.
Maintenance and Care Considerations:
For H59 components used in chemical environments, the thickness of the anti-corrosion coating should be increased.
When assembling precision parts made from H62, preload force needs to be controlled to avoid brittle fracture.
When mixing the use of the two materials, be aware of electrochemical corrosion issues. A bridge project experienced accelerated corrosion of connectors at a rate three times faster due to mixed use.

Our factory serves as the core base for the precision manufacturing of copper products, integrating advanced equipment, strict quality control, and efficient production capacity. We possess a complete production line covering the entire process from raw material smelting and continuous rolling to precision drawing/cutting, with key equipment including large-tonnage hydraulic stretching machines, high-precision CNC machine tools, and automated surface treatment systems. This enables the large-scale and customized production of a wide range of products such as copper rods, tubes, plates, strips, and wires. The factory strictly adheres to the ISO quality management system and is equipped with testing instruments such as spectrometers and mechanical property testing machines to monitor process parameters and product performance throughout the entire process. Digital production management is achieved through an ERP system and visual dashboards, ensuring timely order delivery. Furthermore, we implement a green manufacturing philosophy, equipped with exhaust gas treatment and scrap recycling systems, committed to providing customers with high-quality and sustainable copper material solutions.

Copper product packaging
We employ professional and reliable packaging solutions to comprehensively protect the integrity of all types of copper products during long-distance transportation and handling. For copper rods and tubes, we use moisture- and rust-proof materials for wrapping, secured with sturdy wooden crates or steel strapping to prevent bending and deformation. Copper plates and strips are sealed with waterproof paper or plastic film, protected with edge guards, and then fixed on customized wooden pallets or metal racks to avoid surface scratches and moisture. Copper wires are neatly wound on specialized reels, wrapped with moisture- and rust-proof film, and reinforced at the edges. All packaging is designed according to export standards, with clear labeling to ensure the safe delivery of goods to our global customers.
