China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Seventy-Second Five Research Institute of the Eighth Research Laboratory recently made important progress in the field of titanium alloy seamless tubing, successfully developed a larger domestic specifications of high-strength titanium alloy seamless 2.5D bend. The sample specification of the bend reaches φ690*20mm, and after strict inspection, its size and performance meet the design requirements, reaching the domestic leading level.
In order to achieve this breakthrough, the research team has set up a special group for the precision molding of high-strength titanium alloy seamless pipe fittings in seawater pipelines of ships, and has thoroughly researched and solved the technical problems of complex molding process and narrow process window of titanium alloy pipe fittings at high temperatures by simulating the process of pipe fittings molding in multiple passes and conducting thermoforming process tests.
The successful development of titanium alloy seamless pipe bends not only enriches China's titanium alloy seamless pipe fittings product line, but also provides a solid technical basis for the subsequent development and application of related products. In the future, the Seventy-Fifth Research Institute will continue to devote itself to the research of low-cost molding technology for titanium alloy pipe accessories, improve the supporting application technology and strengthen the assessment and evaluation, so as to further enhance the strength of China's shipbuilding industry in the application of high-end materials.
