ASTM B387 Molybdenum Alloy Bar
Molybdenum ASTM B387 Type 361 is a commercially pure grade containing 99.9% molybdenum. Trace amounts of potassium, aluminum, silicon, iron, nickel, copper, chromium, sodium, and tungsten enhance the properties of metals.
This specification covers unalloyed molybdenum and molybdenum alloy bars, rods and wire. The following materials are covered: Molybdenum 360, Molybdenum 361, Molybdenum 363, Molybdenum 364, Molybdenum 365 and Molybdenum 366, which shall be manufactured using conventional extrusion, forging, profiling, rolling and drawing equipment. These materials shall be made by vacuum arc melting or powder metallurgy. The chemical composition shall meet the requirements for carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, iron, nickel, silicon, titanium, tungsten, zirconium, and molybdenum content. Chemical analysis shall be performed. Mechanical properties shall conform to the required tensile properties: tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and diamond pyramid hardness. Tensile tests shall also be carried out.
