ASTM B658 Zirconium And Zirconium Alloy Pipe
In reducing or oxidizing applications, zirconium can withstand temperatures up to 1200°F. In addition to its high resistance to uniform corrosion, zirconium is effective against pitting, stress and crevice corrosion.
This specification covers seamless and welded zirconium and zirconium alloy pipes. Pipes are categorized into the following three grades: R60702 - unalloyed zirconium, R60704 - zirconium-tin alloy, and R60705 - zirconium-niobium alloy. Seamless pipes shall be manufactured by any seamless method capable of producing a product that meets the specified requirements. Pipes containing welded seams or other welded joints shall conform to the provisions. Pipes shall be supplied in an annealed or stress relieved condition. Materials shall conform to the chemical composition requirements specified. Materials represented by test samples shall conform to the tensile properties specified.

Seamless zirconium & zirconium alloy pipes or tubes may be cold drawn or hot rolled, supplied in annealed condition. Welded zirconium & zirconium alloy pipes or tubes shall be made from ASTM B551 strips, sheets or plates by automatic arc-welding process, furnished with stress-relieving & annealing heat treatment. Specification of Zr & Zr alloy pipes & tubes available with Metals-Piping: size from 1/2″ to 12″, wall thickness covering SCH 5S, SCH 10S, SCH 40S, SCH 80S.
