Key Advantages

Immunity to "Hydrogen Embrittlement": The ultra-low oxygen content prevents the formation of steam pockets (water vapor) if the material is heated in a reducing atmosphere (e.g., hydrogen). This is a critical advantage over oxygen-bearing coppers like C11000 (ETP Copper).

Excellent Ductility and Workability: Excellent for cold and hot working processes like rolling, drawing, stamping, and forging.

Superior Weldability & Brazability: Compatible with most common welding and brazing techniques.

Good Surface Finish: Capable of achieving a bright, clean surface after annealing, suitable for plating.

Corrosion Resistance: Good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, fresh water, and non-oxidizing acids. Will tarnish in sulfur-containing atmospheres.

 

Distinction from C10100 (OFHC)

C10200 is often compared to C10100 (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity Copper). They are very similar, but C10100 has a higher guaranteed purity (≥99.99% Cu) and a slightly higher minimum conductivity. C10100 (OFHC) is typically specified for the most extreme purity requirements (e.g., aerospace-grade applications). C10200 (OFE) is considered the commercial, high-performance electronic grade that meets the vast majority of stringent application needs.
