Can tin bronze 6-6-3 and 5-5-5 be substituted for each other?

Tin bronze 6-6-3 comes from the national standard GB 1176-74 "Technical Conditions for Cast Copper Alloys" promulgated in 1974. The standard was later replaced by the national standard GB 1176-87 "Technical Conditions for Cast Copper Alloys" revised in 1987. Since the GB 1176-87 standard for cast copper alloys, there has been no ZQSn6-6-3. The similar one is ZQSn5-5-5 (ZQSn5Pb5Zn5), with a chemical composition of Sn4.0~6.0%, Pb4.0~6.0%, Zn4.0-6.0%, and copper balance. The latest standard is GB∕T 1176-2013 Cast Copper and Copper Alloys revised in 2013.
Because the two have similar compositions and properties, Tin Bronze 6-6-3 and Tin Bronze 5-5-5 can be used interchangeably under general working conditions. Under special working conditions, they must strictly follow the design and drawing requirements.
Tin bronze is the earliest nonferrous alloy used in my country's history and is also one of the most commonly used nonferrous alloys. Tin bronze is mainly used to produce castings with complex shapes, clear contours, and low airtightness requirements.
The mechanical properties of tin bronze are related to the tin content. When the tin content in tin bronze increases, the plasticity of tin bronze will decrease, it will become more and more brittle, and the strength will gradually decrease. Of course, in addition to tin, tin bronze generally contains other small amounts of elements, such as zinc, lead, phosphorus, etc. Among them, zinc can improve the mechanical properties and fluidity of low-tin bronze. Lead can improve the wear resistance and cutting performance of bronze.
