What is H62 brass?
H62 brass is a common type of ordinary brass, where "H" stands for brass and "62" indicates an average copper content of 60.5% - 63.5%, with the remainder being zinc.
Microstructure and Properties
(I) Microstructure
In the α+β duplex phase brass microstructure, α is the bright white solid solution, and β is an ordered solid solution based on CuZn. At room temperature, the β phase is much harder than the α phase, making it suitable for parts bearing significant loads. Furthermore, α+β duplex phase brass can be hot-worked at temperatures above 600°C.
(II) Mechanical Properties
Tensile Strength: The tensile strength varies under different conditions. For example, in some studies, H62 brass exhibits tensile strength variations related to silver content under specific conditions. In silver-containing H62 brass, different silver contents affect its Rp value (yield strength) in artificial sweat.
Hardness: When silver is added, the hardness value initially increases and then decreases with increasing silver content, reaching a maximum value of 80.8 HV at 0.1% silver content.
Chemical Composition
The main chemical composition of H62 brass includes Copper (Cu): 60.5 - 63.5, Zinc (Zn): balance, with Lead (Pb) ≤ 0.08, Boron (P) ≤ 0.01, Iron (Fe) ≤ 0.15, Antimony (Sb) ≤ 0.005, Bismuth (Bi) ≤ 0.002, and Impurities ≤ 0.5.

Processing Performance
Hot Working: Possesses good plasticity in the hot state. α+β duplex phase brass can be hot-worked within the temperature range of 600 - 850°C.
Cold Working: Maintains acceptable plasticity in the cold state, allowing for various cold working operations such as bending and deep drawing. It can be used to manufacture stressed parts like pins, rivets, washers, nuts, and conduits.
Machinability: Good machinability, easy to machine, and can meet the manufacturing needs of various components, such as bolts and nuts in hardware part manufacturing.
Weldability: Easy to braze and weld, facilitating connection operations in different manufacturing and repair scenarios.
Corrosion Resistance
It exhibits certain corrosion resistance but is prone to stress corrosion cracking. In some comparative experiments, H62 brass with different silver contents showed differences in corrosion resistance. Variations in silver content affect the stability of the alloy's surface passive film, thereby influencing its corrosion resistance performance.

Copper product packaging
We employ professional and reliable packaging solutions to comprehensively protect the integrity of all types of copper products during long-distance transportation and handling. For copper rods and tubes, we use moisture- and rust-proof materials for wrapping, secured with sturdy wooden crates or steel strapping to prevent bending and deformation. Copper plates and strips are sealed with waterproof paper or plastic film, protected with edge guards, and then fixed on customized wooden pallets or metal racks to avoid surface scratches and moisture. Copper wires are neatly wound on specialized reels, wrapped with moisture- and rust-proof film, and reinforced at the edges. All packaging is designed according to export standards, with clear labeling to ensure the safe delivery of goods to our global customers.
