Some experts believe that the trend in copper reserves is either declining or declining, hence the term peak copper. The Copper Industry Development Association (CIDA) puts the world's currently known copper reserves at nearly 5.8 trillion pounds, of which only about 0.7 trillion pounds (12%) have been mined. In addition, because copper has a higher recovery rate than any other engineered metal, almost all of the mined copper ore is still in circulation.
The latest data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) shows that the five countries with the highest copper reserves in the world are Chile, Australia, Peru, Russia and Mexico.
The world's largest copper reserves: Chile
Copper reserves: 190 million tons
Chile is by far the world's largest copper reserves, copper reserves up to 2022 up to 190 million tons, almost twice as much as the second-ranked Australia. At the current rate of extraction, Chile's copper reserves will guarantee production for about 100 years.
Chile is also the world's largest copper producer, with about 5.2 million tons of copper mined in 2022. Copper plays an important role in Chile's economy, with 20% of the country's estimated gross domestic product (GDP) coming from copper production. The steady growth in copper prices has also made the country one of the strongest and most vibrant economies in Latin America.
BHP Billiton Group BHP Group's Escondida is the world's largest copper mine, and a supply disruption at the mine - say because of pay talks - could affect copper prices.
World's second-largest copper reserves: Australia
Copper reserves: 97 million tons
Australia has the world's second-largest copper reserves, after Chile, accounting for about 11% of global reserves.
According to the Australian government, the country's copper resources are concentrated in the Olympic Dam copper-uranium-gold deposit in South Australia and the Mount Isa copper-lead-zinc deposit in Queensland. Other significant copper resources in the country include the Northparkes copper-gold, CSA copper-lead-zinc and Girilambone copper deposits in New South Wales; the Ernest Henry, Osborne and Mammoth copper and copper-gold deposits in Selwyn, Queensland; and the Nifty copper deposit in Western Australia. ..
World's Third Largest Copper Reserve: Peru
Copper reserves: 81 million tons
Peru has 81 million tons of copper reserves, accounting for 9.1% of the world's reserves, and is tied with the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the world's second-largest copper producer, with a national copper production of 2.2 million tons.
The country's largest copper reserves are located in the Antamina, Toquepala, Cerro Verde, Cuajone and Tintaya mines. The Antamina mine in Ancash is operated by BHP Billiton, Glencore, Teck Resources Ltd and Antamina, a joint venture with Mitsubishi, while Southern Copper Corp operates the Toquepala and Cuajone mines and Freeport-McMoRan Inc operates the mine in Arequipa. Inc operates the Cerro Verde mine at Arequipa, and the Tintaya mine is operated by Canon.

The world's fourth-largest copper reserves: Russia
Copper reserves: 62 million tons
Russia has copper reserves of 62 million tons, but production in 2022 will be just 1 million tons. One of the country's largest copper mines, the Udokan deposit (26.7 million tons of copper reserves), is located in Siberia and is currently owned by Udokan Copper (formerly known as Baikal Mining Company). A few years ago, the media revealed the company's plans to raise $1.25 billion to develop a mining and smelting plant, which is currently under construction and is expected to start production in 2023.
The world's fifth-largest copper reserves: Mexico
Copper reserves: 53 million tons
In addition to silver mining, Mexico is also a copper mining powerhouse with reserves of 53 million tons and copper production rising to 740,000 tons in 2022.Grupo Mexico's Buenavista del Cobre (also known as Cananea, in operation since 1899) in Sonora is one of Mexico's One of the largest copper mines in Mexico.

Copper products and testing
For all copper products (tubes, plates, rods, wires, and strips), we adopt professional packaging solutions that comply with international export standards, with a focus on comprehensive anti-corrosion protection and robust reinforcement. We begin by cleaning and applying anti-rust treatment to the products, followed by secure separation and fixation using customized inner lining materials. The outer layer is reinforced with sturdy wooden pallets, enclosed frame boxes, or high-strength bundling, supplemented with waterproof film wrapping and full reinforcement using steel straps. For high-end clients and special requirements, we also offer advanced nitrogen-filled packaging services, which involve replacing the air inside the sealed packaging with inert gas to provide the highest level of oxidation protection, ensuring the products are delivered in perfect original condition.
