Recently, the Maxillofacial Surgery team of the Stomatology Department of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University successfully performed the first titanium alloy titanium plate mandibular reconstruction surgery in China for a patient with an oral tumor using 3D printing technology.
The surgical patient was a 61-year-old male, who visited the clinic due to the recurrence of a malignant tumor in the mandible. To ensure the success of the surgery, the medical team decided to remove the tumor and reconstruct the mandible. To do this, the team used digital technology to simulate the resection and reconstruction process, and applied 3D printing technology to print a titanium alloy plate that perfectly matched the patient's jaw shape.
The titanium alloy titanium plate has significant advantages in this surgery:

1. High fit: 3D printing technology ensured that the titanium alloy titanium plate perfectly matched the patient's jaw shape, improving the precision and efficiency of the surgery.
2. Superior performance: Titanium alloy has the characteristics of high strength, low weight and corrosion resistance, which makes the titanium plate significantly improve the bending strength and bending fatigue resistance, ensuring the stability and durability of the reconstructed jawbone.
3. Promotion of healing: The high degree of fit between the titanium alloy plate and the patient's bone surface helps to minimize postoperative complications, promote osseointegration and tissue compensation, and thus accelerate postoperative recovery.
The surgical procedure went smoothly and the patient successfully reconstructed the mandible while removing the tumor and restored normal function and appearance. The patient has now recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
The successful implementation of this surgery not only reflects the innovative application of 3D printing technology and titanium alloy materials in the field of medicine, but also highlights the leading position and professional technical level of the Maxillofacial Surgery team of the Department of Stomatology of the hospital.
