C44500 is a copper alloy known as "High-Leaded Naval Brass" or "Free-Machining Naval Brass." It is composed primarily of copper (Cu) with significant amounts of zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb). The addition of lead enhances the machinability of the alloy, making it easier to shape, drill, and cut. The process of manufacturing C44500 copper rod typically involves the following steps:

Raw Material Selection: High-quality copper, zinc, and lead raw materials are selected based on their composition and purity. These materials should meet the specifications required for the C44500 alloy.

Melting and Alloying: The copper, zinc, and lead materials are melted together in a controlled environment using electric induction or gas-fired furnaces. The melting process ensures a homogeneous mixture of the alloying elements, resulting in the desired composition of C44500 alloy.

Continuous Casting: Once the molten metal reaches the desired composition, it is poured into a graphite mold in a continuous casting machine. The molten metal solidifies and forms a continuous cast bar or billet. Continuous casting helps ensure uniformity and consistent quality in the copper rod.

Hot Rolling: The continuous cast bar is reheated and then passed through a series of rolling mills while still in a pliable state. The hot rolling process reduces the cross-sectional area and increases the length of the bar. This step refines the grain structure and shapes the copper rod closer to its final dimensions.

Annealing: After hot rolling, the copper rod undergoes an annealing process. Annealing involves heating the rod to a specific temperature and then slowly cooling it. This thermal treatment helps relieve internal stresses, improve the rod's mechanical properties, and enhance its machinability.

Cold Drawing: The annealed copper rod may undergo cold drawing, where it is pulled through a series of dies to further reduce its diameter and increase its length. Cold drawing improves the dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and mechanical properties of the rod.

Cutting and Packaging: The cold-drawn copper rod is cut into desired lengths and packaged for distribution or further processing. It can be cut into standard lengths or customized according to customer requirements.
