Classification of copper and copper alloys

1. Pure copper is also called red copper. Because red copper contains the highest copper content, has a purity greater than 99.5%, and has good ductility and flexibility, it is often used for static sealing of pipelines in vacuum sealing.

2. Copper alloys are divided into brass (ordinary brass, special brass), bronze (tin bronze, aluminum bronze, beryllium bronze, silicon bronze, lead bronze), and white copper (ordinary white copper, special white copper).

Pure copper is divided into ordinary pure copper, deoxidized copper, oxygen-free copper and special copper according to the amount of other elements it contains. It has excellent thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, non-magnetic properties and plasticity. It has good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere and fresh water, but poor corrosion resistance in sea water.

Ordinary pure copper: has high oxygen content and cannot be heated in reducing media to avoid hydrogen embrittlement. It is mainly used for electrical and thermal conductive components.

Deoxidized copper: Certain deoxidizer elements (P, Mn) remain, seriously reducing the conductivity of copper and should only be used as structural materials.

Oxygen-free copper: extremely low in oxygen and impurities, mainly used in electric vacuum devices.

Special copper: Contains different trace amounts of specific elements, such as As, Ag, Te and dispersed copper, and is mainly used for conductive structural parts.
