Which shrapnel material is better in electronic products: brass, phosphor bronze, or beryllium copper?
95% of the metal shrapnel in the conductor connection part of electronic products are made of copper (brass, phosphor copper, red copper, silver-nickel copper, beryllium copper). When faced with the actual design and material selection, some inexperienced engineers are confused. They don't know which copper to choose. Don't be smart and think that it is all made of copper anyway. It is not recommended to do that because you might get spanked; First of all, different copper materials have different properties. If the test fails or other problems occur, the mold may be scrapped if the material is changed, or the product project may be delayed, which is not good. Secondly, the cost is different, which directly affects the cost of the product. The money belongs to the boss. Damn it, if you use high-quality materials to make a low-end product, you have to consider the consequences yourself!
Key performance distinctions:
1.) Brass: Good toughness, soft, not high hardness, not very elastic. But its bending performance is good. (Commonly used grades are C2680, C26000, etc.),
low cost.
2.) Phosphor bronze: poor toughness, good hardness, strong elasticity, and good conductivity (for example, this type is basically used for socket shrapnel.
Commonly used brands are C5191, C5071, etc.), and the cost is medium.
3.) Beryllium Copper: Hard and the most elastic. But the cost is the highest.
