Titanium/steel composite plate, with its unique advantages of corrosion resistance, high strength and low cost, shows a wide range of application potential in many fields such as petroleum, chemical industry and shipbuilding. However, how to prepare this composite material efficiently and environmentally friendly has been the focus of attention in the industry. In this paper, we will discuss the three main preparation methods of titanium/steel composite plate - explosion composite method, hot rolling composite method and cold rolling composite method, and highlight an innovative cold rolling composite plate preparation process.

First, the limitations of the traditional preparation methods
Explosive composite method: the use of explosion generated by the huge impact force, so that the titanium plate and steel plate tightly combined. Although the process is simple, high bonding strength, but environmental pollution and continuous production problems limit its wide application.
Hot rolling composite method: through the surface treatment, vacuum electron beam welding or small hole vacuum group blanks, and then multi-pass hot rolling to realize the composite of titanium plate and steel plate. This method has high production efficiency and can prepare wide composite plates, but the equipment requirements are high, the process is cumbersome, and the vacuum treatment increases the cost.
Second, the cold rolling composite method of innovation and exploration
In view of the shortcomings of the traditional method, the industry began to explore the cold rolled composite method for the preparation of titanium / steel composite plate of new ways. Cold rolled composite method has a simple process, low equipment requirements, high production efficiency, environmental protection and pollution-free advantages, especially suitable for the preparation of low strength metal composite plate. However, the high strength characteristics of titanium and steel make the cold rolling process, the mill load is large, it is difficult to prepare wide composite plate.
To solve this problem, this paper proposes an innovative cold rolling composite plate preparation process:
Pre-treatment stage: anneal the titanium plate and steel plate to reach the softest state and reduce the load in the rolling process. At the same time, suitable materials of titanium plate and steel plate are selected to ensure the performance of the composite plate.
Surface treatment stage: adopt grinding wheel or diamond grinding wheel to mechanically polish the composite surface of titanium plate and steel plate to be composite, in order to obtain clean and rough surface and improve the bonding force of composite interface.
Blanking and wrapping: After the titanium plate and steel plate are laminated and formed into blanks, the surrounding area is wrapped with metal foil to prevent oxidation and contamination during the rolling process.
Heating and Rolling: Preheat the billet in a heating furnace, and then carry out a single-pass warm rolling to realize the pre-composite titanium/steel interface. During the rolling process, the uniformity and bonding strength of the composite interface is ensured by controlling the amount of underpressure and rolling speed.
Diffusion heat treatment: The rolled composite plate is placed in a heating furnace for diffusion heat treatment to realize metallurgical bonding of titanium/steel interface. By optimizing the heat treatment temperature and holding time, the performance of the composite plate is ensured to be stable.
III. Conclusion and Prospect
The process of preparing titanium/steel composite plate by cold rolling composite method proposed in this paper realizes the close composite of titanium plate and steel plate through the steps of annealing treatment, surface treatment, billet formation and cladding, heating and rolling and diffusion heat treatment. This method not only reduces the mill load and simplifies the process, but also improves the production efficiency and reduces the cost, which has an important industrialized application value. In the future, with the continuous progress of technology and equipment upgrading, the application prospect of titanium/steel composite plate prepared by cold rolling composite method will be broader.
