What is C28000 brass?
C28000 is a specific type of brass (copper-zinc alloy) under the American ASTM standard, commonly known as "Muntz Metal" or "60-40 brass." This alloy possesses good strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance, along with excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. As a result, it is widely used across various fields including industry, construction, automotive, and marine engineering.
Composition and Characteristics of C28000 Copper Alloy
The main components of C28000 copper alloy are copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn), with copper content around 60% and zinc around 40%. It may also contain trace elements such as iron (Fe) and lead (Pb). The specific proportions of these components determine the alloy's mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and workability.
Analysis of Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages:
Good Mechanical Properties: Relatively high tensile and yield strength, suitable for mechanical parts and structural components.
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Performs well in atmospheric, freshwater, and seawater environments, making it ideal for marine engineering and chemical equipment.
Good Workability: Exhibits favorable hot and cold working properties, is easy to machine and weld, enabling the manufacturing of complex parts.
Good Electrical and Thermal Conductivity: High conductivity offers advantages in electrical equipment and heat sinks.
Disadvantages:
Limited Strength and Toughness: Compared to some high-strength steels and special alloys, its strength and toughness are relatively lower, unsuitable for applications demanding extreme strength and wear resistance.
High Cost: The cost is relatively high due to the price of copper, limiting its use in cost-sensitive areas.
Susceptibility to Oxidation: Under certain conditions, an oxide layer may form on the surface, affecting its appearance and some performance aspects.

Development Prospects of C28000 Copper Alloy
Automotive Industry: With the trend toward automotive lightweighting, C28000 is expected to see increased use in electric vehicle electrical systems, radiators, and oil coolers due to its good strength, corrosion resistance, and conductivity. Its high thermal conductivity aids heat dissipation, while its corrosion resistance extends component lifespan.
Construction and Decorative Materials: Its aesthetic appeal, corrosion resistance, and good workability make it an ideal material for high-end architectural applications like door/window frames, handrails, and decorative panels. Demand is likely to rise with the growing need for green buildings and sustainable materials.
Marine Engineering and Shipbuilding: Already widely used in propellers, bearings, pumps, valves, and seawater coolers due to its exceptional seawater corrosion resistance. Demand is projected to grow further with increasing global marine development activities.
New Energy Sector: Its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity gives it significant potential in solar power (e.g., collectors, transmission pipes) and wind power (e.g., electrical connections, heat dissipation components).
Future Development Directions
Material Optimization: Adjusting the composition ratio or adding trace alloying elements (e.g., tin, chromium) to further enhance mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance.
Sustainable Development: Promoting recycling and reuse, developing environmentally friendly processing techniques, and reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions during production.
Expanding into New Application Fields: Potential for increased use in emerging areas like aerospace, electronic devices, and smart manufacturing as technology advances and industrial needs evolve.
C28000 copper alloy holds broad development prospects due to its superior performance and diverse applications. Future material optimization and technological innovation will help it better meet modern industry's demand for high-performance materials and play a significant role in new fields. Promoting its green production and sustainable utilization will also help maintain its competitive advantage in the future market.
Our factory
We operate a modern, specialized copper production facility equipped with advanced continuous casting and rolling lines, precision CNC machining equipment, and a rigorous quality inspection system, focusing on the manufacturing of copper tubes, plates, rods, wires, and strips. The factory is ISO9001 certified and possesses a complete industry chain capability-from raw material smelting and precision processing to finished product sorting. With an annual production capacity of tens of thousands of tons, we can flexibly handle customized orders, ensuring that our products meet international standards in dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and surface finish.

Copper product packaging
We implement customized packaging solutions based on product characteristics: copper tubes and rods are wrapped with moisture-resistant kraft paper, reinforced with bundling, and secured on wooden pallets or iron frame boxes to prevent deformation and damage during transit. Copper plates and strips are covered with protective film, separated by foam padding between layers, and externally secured with steel strapping along with waterproof packaging. Wires are coiled on industrial reels or vacuum-packed with plastic film. All packaging includes clear labels indicating product specifications, batch numbers, and protective symbols, ensuring safe delivery during long-distance sea and land transportation.
